This week, I will be heading to the Olympics for London 2012. The Olympics have a magical allure. The athletes that compete, the Olympians, have spent their lives practicing, perfecting, achieving, and competing to work their way to the top of their sport. They\’ve beat million to one odds. They\’ve fought through injuries and struggles and 5 am practices to achieve their dream of competing in the Olympics and are finally about to get their chance to compete against the best in the World and go for the gold.
When I think about what it takes to make it to that level of achievement, three words come to mind: courage, focus, and perseverance.
When is the last time you had a goal or dream that you worked towards, fought for, cried for, and actually achieved?
Health goal or not, whatever your goal– it is time to decide if it is worth fighting for. Trying to work towards too many things at once dilutes your effort and makes you much less likely to achieve the goal you set out to achieve. Just like the Olympians, achieving goals in your life requires courage, focus, and perseverance. If your goal is worth achieving, it\’s time to gather the courage to really go for the gold. Focus on one thing at a time (ie. your goal) and persevere until you\’re standing on your version of the Olympic podium.
If that sounds a little too intimidating, get a coach. Olympic athletes would never make it to the peak of their ability if they didn\’t have a coach to push them beyond what they thought was possible, encourage them to keep at it, and to help them get back up when they fall.
Very soon, I will realize a big goal I\’ve had for a long time. My first book will be published! It\’s titled \”Real Food, Real Simple: A Personalized Plan for More Energy, Less Stress, and Healthy Meals in Minutes\” and is due for publication in September. Knowing that I had a coach to keep me accountable to achieving my goal was really helpful when life got busy or I thought I had better things to do than to finish my book. If you find that you\’re procrastinating, it\’s fear. I\’ve got to tell you, writing and publishing a book is scary! Knowing that my business coach is there to hold me accountable has been really helpful to keeping me on track. If you\’d like to find out how I can help to hold you accountable to reach your goals and go for the gold, book a Get Real Breakthrough Session with me!
