Feel Lighter and More Vibrant Today (Without Losing a Pound)

Happy New Year! This year is the year for you to achieve your health goals and for you to feel great in your body. I want to help by providing simple and actionable strategies to make 2017 your best year yet.

Here are three simple strategies to help you recover from the season of excess and feel lighter and more vibrant today (without losing a pound):

  1. Drink more water. While this seems like a no-brainer, it’s nearly impossible to feel vibrant and energetic if you’re dehydrated. Try starting your day by squeezing half a lemon into a cup of hot water. Sip on this hot lemon water before you eat or drink anything else to get your day off to an incredible start. Then, hit your quota for water throughout the day by drinking enough clean, pure water. (Daily water quota = 1/2 body weight (lbs) in ounces, ie. 150# person would need at least 75 ounces of water each day)
  2. Eat your veggies. Aim to eat 5 servings of veggies/leafy greens perBaked Sweet Potatoes day. Let’s not get too picky on what a “serving” is but if you want an idea, a serving of cooked leafy greens or veggies fits in one cupped hand and a serving of uncooked leafy greens (like a salad) fits in two cupped hands. Veggies and leafy greens are nutritional powerhouses loaded with vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants, water, fiber, high quality carbohydrate. . . need I say more? To get 5 servings in a day, try filling half your plate with veggies at each meal!
  3. Eliminate unneeded stuff. Your environment affects your body and your mood. If you want to feel lighter and more vibrant, take 30 to 60 minutes and clean out some unneeded stuff. Clutter accumulates if you’re not paying attention. Try choosing one area of your home that feels like it’s weighing you down and go through it. If you’d like, use Marie Kondo’s mantra when sorting and ask “does this spark joy?” If yes, keep it. If not, put it in a pile to donate, give-away, or sell. Try starting with your clothes or shoes or some other place in your house that needs some attention.

These three strategies are simple, quick, and incredibly effective. Choose 1, 2, or all 3 and start today!
